About the Artist

An avid gardener, flora and fauna serve as the main source of inspiration for my explorations in ceramic surface design. Vibrant underglaze color on my brush, deep iron-rich clay has become my primary canvas. The palette is reminiscent of my sanctuary, the garden.  My illustrations weave in personal narrative, finding parallels between the natural world and the human experience.  I hope my work encourages us to pause and reflect on the small, quiet moments of beauty in the world around us, that it serves as a visual reminder of our connection to the earth and to one another.

From a background in painting to ventures in stained glass, my creative process is informed by the wide variety of media I explored during the 17 years I spent as an art educator in public schools.  Having only recently discovered a passion for working with clay, I am completely captivated by the infinite possibilities and versatility of the medium. I now work as a full-time ceramic artist in my home studio located outside Austin, Texas.

You can learn more about my journey into clay and the inspiration behind my illustrated surfaces on The Potter’s Cast Podcast from April 2024
